Speech Databases

speechdatabases.png

If you work on speech perception or some related area, and you need some auditory stimuli (words, phrases, sentences, text or "spontaneous" speech, if that thing even exists...) the following databases might be useful for you or might simply be exactly what you need (please notice that some databases might contain inconsistencies or tiny errors in transcriptions), also, IT'S FREE!!!. These databases were of particular use for an accent recognition experiment where I used multiple speakers and accents:

ALLSTAAR database:

L2-ARCTIC: a non-native English speech corpus:

Leap corpus:

Clarin Spoken Corpora:

Speech Accent Archive:

Accent DB

Nerd PS: you probably noticed that the title of this section is a bit redundant and, if you're missing a plosive, is because of the accent ;)
